MOTOR MOUNTS

MOTOR MOUNT QUESTION...(6599)
I'm installing new motor mounts in the 0-145. 2 of the old mounts have washer (spacers) on them. Is there a measurement or angle or distance that I should line the motor up with? Maybe the spacers were installed due to sagging mounts and I won't need them now. Any help would be appreaciated. thanks Sam Klippert <sam@olypen.com>

Sam:
Hmmm...Spacers? Never have seen that. I like to take the whole leg off the engine and change the isolator in a vice. Remove the two 1/4" bolts, then spring the gap with a tapered chisel and slip the new part. Be sure the ridge is on the bottom. Someone may have tried to offset the thrust line for one reason or another. I don't believe anything other than "straight" has any advantage. Mike Williams says some Swift engine mounts have a higher thrust line and they go faster that way. I don't know. -- Jim

They were silver. -- Jim
