Last month’s step was about inviting a past member
or someone we haven’t seen for a while. Please give
it some thought and contact that person and invite them
to next year’s “Old Timers Swift Fly-In”
Let’s
review:
You’ve memorized the dates of the 2010 Fly-In (May
24 through May 29, 2010)
Nothing is scheduled in your life that would be a conflict
with those dates.
You have squirreled away half of the expenses you will incur
for your journey to and from the fly-in. So, what else is
there to do?
Step 6, Go
Fly The Airplane – How many hours have you flown your
airplane in the last 12 months? How many of those hours
included cross country flights over 600 miles? If you answered
the first question with a low two digit number and the second
question with 50 miles or less, it might be a good time
to brush up on your skills, and the sooner, the better.
Between now
and May 24, plan to spend some quality time flying your
airplane. Here are a few suggestions:
#1. Weather
permitting, spend a minimum of two hours a month flying
your airplane in the pattern of your airport, or the airport
where you prefer to practice your landings and take-offs.
Practice those crosswind landings and take-offs as well,
you may encounter them on your way to the fly-in.
#2. Plan and
complete at least two cross country flights. I recommend
each of these cross country’s have 3 legs, and at
least one leg should be 100 miles from one airport to the
other. Visit airports you’ve never been to before.
It’s fun, you will sharpen your skills tremendously
and the confidence it will build inside you will be immeasurable.
If you’re
planning on attending, please email me at diamond2055@aol.com
so I can include you on the list.
